June 2 today... leaving Aidin and Sahagún behind.
We got to brekky about 8:30... Aidin had already left as his train was to depart at 8:45. We got on the road just after 9:00. Another warm sunny day, but some clouds and seemingly a bit less warm. First stop about 10km in... an iced tea and a Sammy... ham and cheese on a hard roll. Quite tasty.
As I was packing this morning, I could not find a shirt that I thought was in yesterday’s laundry... asked the others to look for it... turned out I had hand washed it a day or two ago and put it back in the clean bag... Then I could not find the blue long sleeve shirt I was wearing yesterday... decided I must have taken it off at a restaurant/bar and left it there... once again it turned out we had too many closets in our room... closet-mirror-closet all bypass doors... I had hung it up and slid a door and covered it... silly goose.
Long straight road... lots of trees and a few benches in the shade... one of those stops prior to the Sammy stop. Then on to our destination. Having an ice cold beer/lemonade mix in a frozen mug. First frozen mug... quite refreshing!
We landed... Hostel Piedras Blancas in El Burgo Ranero.... about 17 km today again. A couple more likely in the next couple days, then León to re-outfit a bit... then dig in and grind out a couple 30 km days... That is the current line of thought.
We showered and rested a bit and now just finished the sammy we brought from lunch... along with a couple beer/lemonades...
The weather seems to be changing... mostly overcast with a bit of a breeze... we were talking if we were in the Midwest we would be thinking about hail or maybe a tornado...
The local church here has about 3 or 4 stork nests... kind of amazing... I saw 3 or 4 storks and a youngster or two... took several pix, but not sure Jean can do enough to make anything really show. Kind of weird lighting, partly because I was aiming up, but also because of the cloud/sun combination.
Continued appreciation for the prayers and encouragement... God is with me all day everyday... in part because of the prayers. My best to each one of you. Good night from the Camino in Spain.
My bed for the night... good room... Jim and I are roomates!
Two days and you will be in Leon! What a wonderful cathedral. Enjoy!
