A beautiful day for this mother!

After a late evening Saturday, we all slept pretty soundly... and next thing you knew, it was time to get up and attack the new day.... MOTHER'S DAY!
We walked to the MarsHill Church  in Belltown... It's a growing community of believers and really seem to be meeting the needs there.  The pastor gave a great sermon on just who/what we trust in our lives... sometimes, we really put that trust in the wrong things...
Anyway, walked back to the hotel... had to take a touristy pic of the monorail, found some pretty glass art on the way, bought one doughtnut at TopPot split three ways, then headed back to the hotel to pack and checkout... We had a fancy brunch to attend, of which I still didn't know where... and when we arrived, VOILA, the Space Needle.  Views say it all. Jerry had put his business card on the shelf just to be funny, and while we were eating, his cell rings... and sure enough, it's a woman... interested in getting a home... Was a bit a of hoot!
Headed back to T-Town, about 2ish... and, the Peppered Bloody Mary I had, sent me to LaLa land and I slept all the way from the freeway part overpass till we got off on Hwy 16... that's over 30minutes in snoozerland... Got home, changed our clothes, picked up Oliver and spent an hour just hanging in the park... so nice... Poor fellow, though, he was so warm... finally remember to take his seat belt harness off (works as a good leash collar), and he cooled down... ohhh, and his little water bowl we carry with us.
So after all that relaxing, I find out the day has not ended yet.  We change, head out to dinner (yes, another meal... ) and they had me going on where we would be eating ate.  We stopped by Darren's house.. I thought we were having a BBQ there... and was actually not happy, cuz he had just put on the big DreamBuilders Ball event, PLUS it was his birthday... well, they were just teasing me again, we actually were all going out for a Mothers Day/Birthday dinner at Harbor Lights!... Wow... I am so blessed..Thank you Lord!

To Bainbridge Island and Back and then a visit to BollyWood!

Quite the day… We walked down to Pike Place Market, watched the street entertainment and bought my favorite Balsamic Vinegar… Aged for 12 years… and so, so, yummy…Only in Seattle, we also saw a clam walking down the sidewalk... As Ivar would say... Keep Clam... Okay, only the locals will know that saying! Then, wandering around and we found ourselves at the Ferry Dock and walked on as passengers and headed to Bainbridge Island… Just for the views and the fresh sea air… Saw a large blonde lab who thought he was a lap dog... you'll see in the picture down a ways... all in all, it was a very pleasant day… Oh, and Jillian got to add some gum to the gum wall… and with that, you would think our day was complete…. But not so!  Out of the blue, Jillian met a friend of hers from high school, Gersen, who's in Med School in the PI, and is just home for break... what a hoot!  We meandered finally back to the hotel... We had a hot night planned and all needed to get dolled up!

In the evening, we made our way to the DreamBuilders Ball… Lots of items up for auction…a wonderful Bollywood type theme… and good food and wine… Plus, they raised over 1.1 Million dollars for Virginia Mason Hospital. Good Stuff and we felt honored to be there.

Dang… family just informed me… we have to be up early tomorrow… what d’ya bet it will be the one day I sleep in… not that I’m complaining… I’m tickled they actually have some plans!

The start of a great Mother's Day Weekend!

A better weather weekend could not have been planned for this Mother’s Day…. It’s perfect for a visit to Seattle… Yup, the family surprised me with a stay at the Westin. We were already scheduled to attend the “DreamBuilders Ball”, an event to raise money (think AUCTION) for the Virginia Mason Foundation at the Westin. It’s always a beautiful event and our friend Darren’s biggest fundraiser of the year. He does a beautiful job putting this together… has all the right people in place.  Anyway, they made a weekend of it... Lucky me!
Anyway, back to me… We arrived last night... the city was a bustling… NOT like last week when the ‘anarchist’s’ were making a mess out of downtown…. Checked in and then walked around this end of town. Dinner was at 6:30 at Pasta Freska in the Lake Union area... no menu… just fun people and a fun meal with SIX courses (they are not huge, thank heavens, but definitely you do not leave hungry) and two bottles of vino. The owner/chef was friendly and stopped and chatted quite a bit. Got back to our room around nine, and well, the food and the wine... made for a quiet, sleepy evening... and that was perfectly okay with all of us!
Our room is on the 31st floor so we have a view of the city and water and even the Olympics. The Northwest cannot be beat!   The Olympics at Sunset... The Olympics at Sunrise...
