Adieu to the Cascade Mountains and an Unexpected Surprise on the Way Home!

Came home via US2, Stevens Pass... It never disappoints! Not only that, we found, on a forest road off the highway, the Foss Railroad Trestle over, yes, the Foss River! Got our first Bridge pic of 2022 too... over, yes, the Foss River! We live in such a beautiful part of the country! The Trestle, by the way, is still active today. While we were there, one of those trucks with special attachments was running on the tracks... went back and forth a couple times...

Even better, we got the first Bridge Picture for 2022...

A Walk About in Town and Beyond... and then the Town's Lights!

It was really cold... temp just below 32 degrees... but out we went to get some exercise and see what was new in this little town.  Four miles later we were walking back to the Posthotel.

By the way, we noticed, everyone there wore their white Posthotel robes... everywhere when in the hotel.  The idea the hotel has is for you to be totally relaxed.  It was perfect!

Evening brought a dinner out at the Larch Restaurant, an Italian place next to an alley.  Such good food and now, no longer a secret... was pretty crowded but they had room for us in the bar.  When we finished, we walked through town and the beautiful lights galore in the park and on the city buildings.

A Visit to a Little Bavarian Town Called Leavenworth!

Left foggy Tacoma and enjoyed the mostly fog enshrined, journey to Leavenworth... yet, at one spot, BAM, the sun broke out... and the temp there, well, 24degrees... a bit chilly! We are staying at the Posthotel... a truly Spa hotel, no one under 18 allowed. We're looking forward to a relaxing couple of nights.

We spent an hour or so enjoying the spa pools they had. We assumed, mid week it would not be crowded... how wrong we were! There were lounge chairs for about 50 people... and we got one of the last two available. We grabbed a spot and then found our way to the big indoor pool which had a pass through to the outdoors. So cold outside, yet the water was not too bad... Peeked over at the large hot tub, there was room for us so off we went. A great way to end out day... except for the freezing cold walk back into the building. Okay, more relaxing, then upstairs to our room where we had our own Charcuterie Plate and wine from home... perfect!
