The 14th Day - New Inserts and Logged 12 Miles

May 27 today.
I am now walking towards Burgos, it is a sunny day with some clouds.  I had a good night’s rest, which is always welcomed! Jean sent some songs via email and YouTube ... very much enjoyed those; will enjoy them more in the future. I am looking forward to getting some shopping done in Burgos for inserts, etc. I’m hoping I might hook up with Italian folks to return their electronics.
The walk this morning into Burgos was quite nice, definitely industrial, but was not bad. I got into town and The Camino directions were somewhat vague but I found it and was able to navigate where I needed to go: Got some euros, found some lip balm with sunscreen, and even better, I was able to find some new inserts for my shoes. What a difference I felt right away!  Oh, I also found some gloves!
It has already been a great day. The sun is shining, and it is a wonderful day! I am feeling totally blessed: I am in Spain, leaving Burgos walking the Camino... how amazing is that! I have said ‘hi’ to some new people but people in the city tend to be pretty busy. I saw the Cathedral of St Mary… amazing ... huge ... bigger than anything I remember seeing in the way of a Catholic Church. It said somewhere that there were 20 chapels. I don’t doubt it having seen the outside. I didn’t really feel like I wanted to see the inside.  On our travels, I’ve seen many Catholic cathedrals/churches. God is in me and in people and we are the church, not the buildings.
I am now back walking in the country; I just took a picture of the skyline. Some electrical towers and the Camino. I am pleased to be back on the Camino. The big city was kind of fun and amazing. Huge, amazing cathedral, nice people, good shopping... but the country, so much nicer! Onward we go.
I met up again with Jim... a gent I met yesterday. His feet are in bad shape.  Big blisters on the bottom of his feet… I hope he can find some relief.  Oh, I’ve been in touch with the Italian folks by email (love Google translate).  Hoping to hook up tomorrow, if I can walk to where they will be staying tomorrow night, about 17 miles from where I am… we shall see.  I will not push things.
Thanks for the prayers… I am feeling them!  Buen Camino!

Jim... now in Rabe de las Calzadas
This is the Albergue for the night... very nice !
Pretty cool mural on the wall!

Played with these pups a bit before bed...

 Good Night Camino...

 Buen Camino

  1. Great news on the new inserts & gloves! Hope you bought an extra pair of inserts for the still far bit to go. I'm sure they're less weight to carry than the electronics for the Italians--heehee! Walk on as always at your pace.....pmJudy
