May 28th
Another glorious day mostly blue sky after a good night’s rest in Rabe de las Calzadas. It’s was a good start to a new day. I took a couple pictures and then I hid a new treat for Hanna. I need to send a pic to her. Jim (he’s from Wisconsin by the way, about 50ish) and I started out together, I’m behind him right now. But I think I’ll probably catch him and I’m feeling very good. I love y’all and I love you Lord.
I am still walking... just about 12 ½ miles so far today. Jim and I stayed in the same place yesterday and we’ve been walking together, on and off, all day, very enjoyable talking and walking. We just stopped in Honatas, I think it’s called and had lunch and stretched and aired out our feet and now we are back walking. Jim stopped to adjust his knee brace and is thinking he is going to slow a bit. He’s probably not walking all the way as far as I’m walking today so he’ll be stopping for the day shortly. I’ll probably be another hour and a half on my walk. I am hoping to get to Castrojeriz where the Italian folks are and I’m on a proper path to accomplish that at this point. It’s about 1:15 and I hope to be there about 3 o’clock. Jim and I have had several conversations and listened to a couple of Christian songs. Life is good and I am blessed. The sun is shining and the wind is blowing and it is a glorious day here in Spain... I’m walking the Camino in Spain how about that...more later regards.
So I’m continuing to walk and I’ve seen some more of the grass being blown by the wind so I took a couple short videos. I am hoping to try and grasp that for those not here. I’m hoping the Panorama pix did a little justice. Hopefully you’re getting some photos and a sense of the beauty and scenery. Just went by an old building of some sort it’s up above me by 10 feet so I can’t really tell exactly what it was or how old it is or what it is. Probably 100 years or more but is just a skeleton at this point. I did not take a picture. Walking downhill very gradually but continuing to make good time. Hopefully I will be there in an hour and a half or so. And get rid of this extra weight that I’m carrying- really is not a big deal though.
As I continue to walk alone, I’m in the direction of a late beautiful afternoon wind blowing through the grass, blue sky with a few clouds overhead, and her little bugs flying with me every once in a while. And some little butterflies, I think, they are bright yellow and blue, very small. I tried once or twice to take a picture but they’re just traveling too fast. It does not work out. Totally joyful day giving God all the glory have gotten a couple of.
I have gotten a couple YouTube videos from Jean and that are so uplifting out here in the middle of nowhere in God’s creation to hear such beautiful music so very encouraging and inspiring. I am still having an amazing time.
So I am nearing the end for the day. Just went through a small village some small place I should’ve taken a picture. I didn’t want to stop cuz if I did, it would be hard to get going again! The was a place with American music playing. I wanna drink cold drink and kept walking according to the gentleman. There is 3 km left and I can see my destination. I’ll be there within the hour and that feels good.
I know am completing another day on the Camino and totally blessed by God, enjoying new friends, scenery, and a new place to stay tonight. Hopefully I will find my Italian friends and be able to reunite them with their electronic accessories and I will feel like a job well done also.
I’m in Castro and checked into a room. Jim ended up grunting it out so he made 28 km (18 miles) today also. We are sharing a double room with a private bathroom: very nice €20 each and we both talked it into dinner and had community dinner for €10 and breakfast tomorrow for three euros I think so €33 for a bed and two meals pretty nice! I just got done walking to the Italian folks the place they’re staying at and I didn’t find them but the Albergue host knew who they were, so I left the items on their bed.
Ended up seeing Meika at a bar there. It was nice to say hi and chat for a minute. I’m having dinner at my Albergue with Jim. She said she’s only going 17 km tomorrow, so I likely will see her on the Camino and likely pass or maybe have a beer or a pop or lunch together I don’t know. I’m on the way back to my house now to rest, probably have a beer, and then talk with Jean. Another awesome day.
We had dinner as a group tonight... Asian food... probably 25 people... owners did an excellent job preparing for dinner. I will find out more... amazing food and great company. Korean food with Korean folks across the table... very nice folks and conversation.
Buen Camino!
Great day! Love the countryside photos as well as the village ones. Glad you've lightened your load :) Walk on.....
