Long Day... traveled quite a bit, yet still had stops and time to look and take pictures. Our first stop was to Grecia and see the beautiful metal church... Oh My Gosh... about 75 kids getting ready to take their First Holy Communion. It was so sweet... all dressed up... yet still, kids at heart, giggling, laughing, the boys ignoring the girls... I sorta got carried away with the pictures... just a few here but I think you can imagine how many I took with the digital camera! Had to throw a selfie on of us to prove we were there!
Next stop was in Sarchi to check out historic Ox Cart Factory. Course, nowadays they are more for decor, etc. Fascinating that they are made the same way they were made years and years ago. The artwork is spectacular, the wood workmanship... stupendous! They still had an old water wheel that supplies the electricity to run the different saws, laths, etc. They do have traditional electricity for lighting, etc.
Hoped back in the bus and after 30 minutes on the road... Tropical Storm settles in... Made a decision to stop for lunch... found a spot right next to the road... and it was pure Costa Rican! Loved it and the people there. There were a couple claps of loud thunder in which I just about jumped out of my skin. We ate to the sound of heavy rain on the metal tin roof... An experience I loved!
Well, our plan for the rain to stop didn't happen, so we went ahead and took off for Zarcero, high in the mountain valley, to check our a very special topiary! Hoping the rain would stop...
Got there, and within 5 minutes it tapered off and we could explore the beautiful gardens in front of the St. Raphael Church... You know, when it's overcast, things look so deeper and richer in color.
Then after 30 minutes, the sprinkles started and we decided to take off for our final destination for today and the next two nights. Arenal Observatory Lodge... Oh My Gosh! The volcano is right out our deck... It's active, and does steam plum, but hasn't spewed much lava in the last few months lets hope it stays that way!
Just to prove we were there!!!! PS no hot rollers here, no makeup... going 'raw'!
Though this was cute with all the white shoes and a mom's pair of pink ones!
A roadside Honey Stand... yes, those are bottles of honey... trying to be artsy!!!
Our van
Roger showing him the pics...
His wife down the stairs...
