Learning and enjoying so much on this trip. Layne has taught me new things about picture taking... Suddenly backgrounds are way more important to me... well, some of the time... not all. It's so nice when you meet someone who is encouraging and willing to share his talents with a novice like me... the others on this trip are way more savvy with picture taking and humongous camera bags!
We enjoyed a nice brekky before taking off to see the volcano Paos! As with our luck these last few trips, it was socked in. It's a steaming crater and boiling lake... that you look down at... You could smell the sulfur... well, that's all we could do, clouds covered the rest!
Then Layne says... look at the people... take pics of other stuff it's not a waste of time... And then, I had fun!!!!
Spent an hour there... yup... in all those clouds... its' a small trail up... and it was eerie with the clouds... That's Roger in the yellow parka walking ahead of me...
Huge Ferns... I mean HUGE
This plant is call the poor man's umbrella!
Don't know who she was... but I snapped her as she and her boyfriend were having fun!!!
Ain't we cute!
How bout some shoes at the top!!!!
Walking back down the trail....looking back!
Off we went to the coffee plantation that had a huge array of plants and things to see and do... was really fun... ended up having lunch there. They also had a butterfly exhibit... that's further down on the pics... We picked coffee beans... no easy chore and has to be done... one bean at a time...The season to pick is just starting...
This is called an air squash... we can't eat them but monarch butterflies like them..
Geoff is so proud of his first bean!!!
Hydrangeas everywhere and huge... up to five feet tall... it's the volcanic soil they say!
Wonderful photos! We're the "Blue Island" of the Azores because of our hydrangeas--usually mid June through August. Like they say, volcanic soil. What great experiences for you both!
