Set Out For A Tour That We Didn't Realize Was Suppose To Happen Tomorrow:Traveler's Brain Issues

Left the Hotel around 9:30, wanted to beat the heat, and it truly was a nice morning as we walked the pedestrian only streets.  Many had been cleaned during the early hours, so it was a really pleasant walk.  Love the way Google Maps helps you out no matter what city you are in!
Anyway, got to our destination for our tour... Oh, wait... that's suppose to happen tomorrow!  There was a park we wanted to see which was about 1 1/2 mile from from digs.  We decided since it was still early not quite overly toasty yet, to go check it out.  It is not at all like Central Park in New York, but yet it is.  Large, green, gardens, paths, trees, right in the middle of the city, the Parque De El Retiro.  It was open to the public in the 1800's, but was actually a work in process since the 1500's for the royalty.
We also saw the Puerta De Alcala arches greeting folks as they enter the city... it was built in the late 1700's.
Again, this city has become a favorite of ours.  Liz, I just kept thinking of you and Gary!
We got back to the hotel around 1:30 and are staying indoors for a while... the heat is pretty oppressive when you want to venture forth on foot.  That can happen later in the evening!'

Can you imagine how clean and fresh this smelled?
Interesting metal sculptures on the hotel's decks
I love murals on the sides of buildings that look like the building!

Taking a rest in the park... it was a bit of a walk... plus, we had just found a geocache...
Shaped like a snail... you unscrewed the poor snail's bottom to get to the log!

These were the blooms on the above trees.  So soft and light!

To my lady friends, these striped, palazzo type pants in the pic on the right are EVERYWHERE... about 3-5 inched about the ankles.

 Where's Jean?

Some special groups dancing through the park... each had their own portable electronic speaker!

Poor Kermit the Frog... sitting there all by himself... no one wanted to have their picture taken with him...(PS, that costs if you do!)

Sangria... in the air-conditioned area... too warm for Al-fresco!

  1. Prada museum air conditioned?? Didn't make it there when I was there but then again it was in March with cold temps---easier for just wandering. Definitely keep cool! Sao Joao festival/holiday in parts of Portugal tomorrow---festa, festa, festa!!! Festa on.... :D
