Can’t say it enough!!! Under 100 miles left to Santiago de Compestela!!
Good morning. It is about 11 o’clock. I’ve been walking since 730. Quite some hiking & some pretty serious hill climbing! There have been some very cute little towns and villages and I have met some very nice people. I met Bill from San Francisco... he’s a Kairos volunteer! it was very good fun talking with him. I saw Jacob again from Vancouver BC... it has been a wonderful day. The trail continues to have some very difficult hills but seems well maintained... about 4 feet wide with small gravel... quite enjoyable. I’m back on it again now...I just left Linares, a small village and I took a picture as I was leaving town as I forgot to get one on the way into the village. I’m climbing again... hoping to make probably 22 or 24 today. We are officially in Galicia now the last region in Spain on the Camino, all the way to Santiago. They have fresh Camino markers that look recent and they have the kilometers remaining to Santiago on them. Brierley (the author of the book many of us use) ndicates they may not be real accurate but they are getting smaller and that is a good thing. All for now thanks again Lord for another beautiful day with no rain.
The Hills have indeed come alive again with the sound of music. All the green hillsides... I’ve taken lots of pictures. Once again, the topography is reminding me of the beginning of the Camino when I was reminded of the Sound of Music... more of that happening now... beautiful country. More later!
I stopped for a sandwich for lunch about a half hour ago and ate half of it packed half of it. Bill said he thought we had done most of the ‘heavy lifting’ when we arrived at O’Cebreiro... not so! The Camino was much smoother after that, but there were definitely more significant hills.
So I’m continuing to walk... it is after 2 o’clock. Continues to be cloudy, sometimes threatening... I’ve been tempted to put my rain fly on but haven’t yet done so and so far it’s been good. A little bit of blue sky, lots of grey sky, beautiful green mountains and hills... unbelievable... just amazing! Lots of small villages... lots of cows... today we must be in cow country, and the villages look and smell of cows. Cows walk through the villages on the Camino with the owners... leaving their manure on the Camino. In the big scheme of things, not a big deal, unless you live in one of those villages... but if you did, you would not notice... part of God’s plan... it’s such an amazing day and I think I’m gonna be at 30 K again today which wasn’t planned at all but it looks like our next decent size village is about another 5K and it’s only 230 or something so I’m good with that. I’ve had good conversations... stopped and had a couple drinks, all is good. God is blessing me... and everybody else too I am sure... talk to you later...
I ended the day in Triacastela, in the 4th place I tried... a bit of angst, but it passed as soon as the young lady said ‘yes’!
Actually she said it is on the 4th level and there are no lifts. I said that was not an issue. She showed me to the room... 402 is the room number... same as the hull number of the submarine boat I served on... USS Sea Fox SS402.
Another amazing experience today! Thank You Lord! Wow! Am I being blessed or what!!!?!
Good night from the Camino in Spain!
Is that a cow photo-bombing me?

What another great day with good walking weather! Living in cow country, I know all too well the dangers of not looking where you're stepping along the farm roads/trails.....Beautiful countryside photos. Getting closer, walk on.....
