After 24 hours in three big birds, and four airports (SEA, JFK, Madrid and Madrid Term 4), Jean arrived in Santiago de Compostela... and was surprised to see that Jerry was there at the airport to meet her. A car had been arranged to pick her up, and she was planning on seeing Jerry at the Hotel. She was gobsmacked happy to say the least.
Okay, now back to First Person story telling... by Jean
We got to the room, I settled in, (unpacking suitcase... which then provided Jerry with some much needed new and different clothes to wear! That plaid shirt sure got a workout) and, after a New York minute, off we went on an explore to see the square where Jerry and his amigos ended their Caminos.
It was still bustling with activity. So many folks just arriving and congratulating each other for the goals they met! Jerry even saw a couple of folks he walked the trail with who had arrived. They all had this special adventure in common and they were all smiles!
By the way, Jerry caught a pic of a young lady he'd seen earlier and then at the airport when he was getting ready to greet me. Band aides on her feet, hobbling around... but she completed her journey. Made him thankful his blisters are healed now and weren't that bad!
Earlier in the day, Elisa and Jer had taken Jim to the train station and on the way home, found a humongous donut they shared with a photograph with Jim. Also, saw a Tres Amigos sign they also shared.
We got back to the hotel, I cleaned up (as did Jerry) and we met Elisa for dinner. What a fun evening, and what a special lady! She's from Atlanta now, by way of Puerto Rico. She has four grown children and a husband of 30 years... Hope to hook up with her in the future, as with Jim too! We almost forgot to get a pic of the three of us, but remembered at the end...after a 2 hour dinner.
Got back to the room, and at 10:15, it was still pretty light out. Thank heavens for blackout shades. I had sorta hit the wall after all the travel and was ready for bed! My fit bit was telling me i had walked over 4 miles... I think almost two of there were in the Spanish Airports...
A long, happy day was coming to an end!
After a great meal... Jerry met the nicest folks on his Camino, and I get to meet some of them too! This is Elisa!
Donut pic they shared with Jim, the other Amigo!
Blisters and she was limping horribly....
My first site of the beautiful catherdral!
Walking through town... to the 'square'!
