May 31
We started this morning about 8 o’clock from Carrion de los Condes. We stopped right away and had a little breakfast, then we got to the walking. Blue sky, no clouds, getting warm already. We walked about 8 km and there was a food truck. No villages for 17 km so someone thought to park the food truck in the middle of nowhere, and it has been very helpful for many pilgrims. We stopped and had a bit of drink and eat and aired out our feet.
Back on the trail and back in the heat... we walked on to about 17 km and stopped at a bar and had a lemonade beer and made some sandwiches from our own stuff, then we got back on the trail and walked on. The scenery is mostly farmland and fairly flat but still beautiful. We continue to see many people we have seen before... We saw Katia a couple times today... she walks to her husband Paul, who has the van you saw earlier. They have 6 dogs. Today was a beer day for him, so she walked 25 km and we saw him here in Ledigos, but she wanted to keep walking so he was going to drive 10 km further... after a beer. Nice folks.
Another blessed day... God was with us and helped us survive the heat. We arrived at Ledigos and were able to find a room with three beds a private bathroom. We enjoyed some camaraderie on the trail about Pan Hombre. A fictional character in Jim’s mind. A small village, back a day or two, there was a van that seemed to be delivering 🥖. He would honk his horn, get out of his vehicle and knock on doors... He became Pan Hombre! Brought some humor all day long... much needed. We relaxed for a couple hours after dropping off our packs and changing shoes and had a few beers with lemonade and talked about everything under the sun including our blisters.
Eventually a shower and a nap happened, then we went back to the restaurant for dinner. It was full so we had a couple drinks waiting for space in the dining room. The chef came into the bar at one point and Aiden complimented her... later when we were sitting to eat, she came back and we felt as or we were treated pretty specially. The waiter said they had no beef... she brought us a sort of roast beef... a good dinner... too much to eat. And we headed to bed. I neglected to finish this so am sending it Saturday morning early.
