We were here in 2001, two months after the attack. New York was still in shock, the area was still filled with the aroma of death and destruction, people stood on corners near the site praying the rosary while trucks, loaded with rubble, and, mostly probably, human DNA. It is a memory that will never be erased from my mind. I wasn't sure how I would feel about the museum; those concerns were unwarranted as they did a very good job.
I felt like I was getting to know a bit about the people that had their lives snuffed out... all because of an extreme group of folks. Their lives were shared via videos, tapes, and items from their surviving families. And not just those in New York, as the Pentagon and the flight that crashed in Pennsylvania were also covered.
There was a very good timeline of how the the Jihadist came to such power. A visit to the museum leaves one quiet and introspective. Life is precious!
This is on the way to the memorial, not really part of it at all, but still, pretty cool.
A Staircase to freedom and life....
The 2001/2 Crystal Ball dropped on New Years Eve in Times Square had each of those lost names etched in the crystals. I didn't know/remember that.
The front of Ladder 3 Firetruck...
The door shoved back on the left side, just twisted metal all throughout
One of the memorial pools... the museum is under alot of this area.
Freedom Tower now in place...
