Wow, we are only about 5 blocks from the
Opera House which allowed for a nice walk there this morning. It was quite windy but the bright sun made
one forget about the wind. We got to the
Opera House and had a wonderful guide (with an awesome, understandable French
accent) take us on an hour tour of the place.
We got to go into three of the theaters.
The building houses such beautiful venues… and, since each one we went
in had a show, we weren’t allowed to take any pictures…. SO FRUSTRATING cuz
they were gorgeous inside. The seats
were even neat. Mary J Bilge was
performing tonight in one venue, the Melbourne Ballet Company in another, and a
Play was going on in another. Now that’s
a great building that gets used. Oh, and
a Nutcracker in another one for youth.
Walked a short bit to our waiting boat for
a trip around the harbor and a great lunch. Food is in no shortage on this trip
unfortunately! The cruise was great and
we saw the city and sites from a new perspective! Most of the homes around the area are multi,
multimillion dollar views! Garages on
the shoreline for their boats!
Drove around a bit and ended up at Bondi
Beach… not many waves… and, for that matter, not many people. It’s been pretty chilly…after all, it is
fall! Weird to see their leaves starting
to turn and knowing ours at home are blooming beautiful!
So, one of the things we planned before we
left was to meet up with some folks we met on our Scandinavian tour
from two years ago. Judith, Pru and Dawn
met us here at the hotel, and out we went for a great dinner this evening! Is that not cool? … makes the world a bit
smaller and a bit more personal!
Jerry took some evening pics… Australia is
a place filled with beautiful sights and wonderful, kind people!
Yes, purple carpet... ALL OVER THIS VENUE
Such a unique building... with an interesting history of how it came to be.
Every five years they have to inspect the tiles on the roof... We're there and they're doing it!!!
The boat for our cruise!
New Friends!!!!
Hoping for good weather on Wednesday, then Jerry and I will be one of those folks you see on the bridge in this pic!
This was the bathroom on said boat... it was like walking up to the throne!!! oh wait, it is a throne!
What a amazing place! Able to see any performance?
