From a Wildlife Park to a Foodie Tour like we’ve never seen to meeting with another friend from our Norway travels!

So we drove to the Featherdale Wildlife Park.  Saw lots of stuff up close… still some barriers, but not too bad.  The highlight was seeing the Southern Cassowary!  The guide when we were at the rainforest told us the forest was their natural habitat and that they are on the endangered list.  Felt so lucky we go to see them upclose.  Wallaby’s, more koala’s, many birds, laughing kookaburras, flying foxes, owls, red kangaroo, and even dingos!  We were able to fee the roos and wallaby’s roo food.  Man, they have long nails on those front hands!  Jerry was having to keep the Red Kangaroo from wanting to push his hands away from the cup of food!  It was a fun diversion for an hour.

We drove back into Sydney for our food tour at 11.  Went to five places over 3 hours.  First stop was an Italian Deli…. P R Renairi Deli in the Five Dock area… Oh my gosh… the meats and cheese to die for!  Very yummy.  Then, on to the Sydney Fish Market.  HUGE!!!!  Part wholesale and part retail.  Wholesale is hopping from 5 in the morning till 10… then that part is done and fish is sent to the purchasers.  Retail side was still going strong.  There were oysters to sample, some sort of white fish, two different calamari’s, shrimp, between the Fish Market and the Deli, we were not hungry any longer, but alas, we had two more places to visit.  Next to the world-famous Harry’s on Wheels in Woolloomooloo: famous for their meat pies, something you find all over here.  Jer and I opted to share one.  They come topped with mashed potatoes and peas.  Since Jerry doesn’t like peas, we just had one with only the mashed potatoes on it.  Starch City! I’m not so sure why people like these things so much!  The fourth stop was “The Old Fitzroy Hotel’, which is really a pub.  We sampled three different beers, met the owner and were highly entertained during the whole process!  When we finished there, off we went to Messina Gelato… oh gosh, so may flavors to choose from but we managed!

Got back and walked through the city… found a geocache… and then walked back home.  This evening we would be having dinner with another friend we met on our Norway tour, John.  Nice meal and conversation!
