Adventures in a Moonscape! Garden of the Gods….Lanai Style!

After Jerry finished some business, we went on a little explore… Ended up grabbing a bite of lunch in Lanai City… quaint restaurant… definitely a locals only sorta place… Finished up and off we went with our GPS and Jeep to check out the area via unpaved roads.  Saw some weird birds, lots of bumpy dirt roads and a most unique landscape.  There are all different kinds of beautiful when it comes to Mother Nature!
We were hoping to make it all the way down to the shore… but, after every turn, it became evident, we had way to far to go… so after an hour in, we had to turn around.  If you notice the pictures, the water really is quite a bit below where we were.  However, our GPS showed there was a geocache in the area… so, as we got close, we found a wide spot to park the Jeep and off we went.  I had flip-flops on, so, eventually, I had to stay put while Jerry went on.  You can see in the pics the land was no ‘piece of cake!’  After a bit of a trek, and searching around rocks, Jerry found the cache, signed it and hustled back up to where I was.

Drove back to our digs after a detour to the market.  Yup… a nice day in paradise!   Only came home with three huge bites... man... critters love to chomp on me!

Looking from the entrance lobby of our hotel... out at the pool and the ocean...

The only marina on the island... about a mile from our place as the crow flies... Nicely protected by the rock jetty that was built by humans... not mother nature...

Driving away from the resort... I think this is probably what Maui looked like before all the development.  The Mormon's actually had a settlement here for a while...

Lunch at the Blue Ginger... a local gathering place that some of us tourist search for!

The last bit of organized living before the road diverged into four wheel driving!

Weird birds... there are three of them, they looked like turkey's with long legs or buzzard with long legs... who know????

That's Molokai in the distance...

Our trusty Jeep!

Can you see Jerry.... hiking down looking for the geocache... My flipflops were no match for this terrain!

There he is... checking around the rocks... between the rocks.... in the cracks of rocks!  FOUND IT!

and all the while I'm up here watching...
