ITALIA - We're Here!

We are here! A long day flying… we arrived at our hotel about 2ish the next day…All flights were great… and as comfortable as being on a plane for 8+ hours. We located in First Class…love those Frequent flyer miles… our tickets were $0… I couldn’t snooze a whole lot, but certainly was nice… Our long flight had TWO meals… one was 5 courses… geeze… and then you are woken up about 90ish minutes before landing for a breakfast… We also each got a personal care kit.. tooth brush, eye covers, socks, etc…Darn, Jerry left his on the plane!
We flew over Paris and the lights were beautiful… guess that’s all I can say, is cuz next we were in the airport…which is also quite nice. The architecture in the ceiling… pretty cool… To get from one plane to the other was not a bad walk other than we had to check out of France, then go back through security all over again… and Jerry’s baby water bottle he got on the plane did him in as he went through….
Flew over the French Alps… very pretty… and the valleys were green and polkadoted with homes and fields…. Couldn’t wait to see what Italy would be like…. But, the way we can in, didn’t show us much topography… mostly ocean…. Small airport,… landed… went through customs…. Wait, no we didn’t, we just walked out of the airport and were greeted by a “TAUCK” to whisk us away to our hotel…. About an 1hour away….
Naples, from the car looked like a big city… with lots of folks… and of course, the dryer of the day there was everyone’s balcony…. Told Jerry I wish we could dry clothes outside… You know, here seeing all those clothes, well, it looks ‘charming’ not ‘tacky’ as it is at home.
Winding roads… oh yes, not for the faint hearted, By the time we left the city limits, I think we really felt like…’We’re here!” Pretty much drove along the coast to Sorrento. Warm, Warm day…. A little warmer than normal… felt great though! The views... They don’t have a lot of “viewpoints” like we do it home…. Not much room for them on the narrow roads. And, as you go through the little cities/towns… beware of the motorcyclists… they have their own set of driving instructions… it’s called weaving between cars.
Sorrento is a gorgeous place… our hotel, fells like we are truly away from the states. Everything is so old…. I have to get a pic of the elevator… limit.. 3 people, w/o luggage. It’s build in an old building, so you try to update as best as you can. The views from the hotel are spectacular, the grounds so pretty and the people so friendly…. As Annie, from the broadway showof the same name sings: “I think I’m gonna like it here”….

I thought this ceiling in the wing was so awesome....
Along the road to Sorrento, after we left Naples...

A clever way to sell lemonaide on the roadside

Motorcycles.... Man... they have courage and guts!

VIews from the hotel.... spectacular!
Walking around the grounds....

So many more pics... but alas... I'm tired...

  2. Very nice pics Jean...I look forward to seeing more. It's been a long time since I've been to Europe. I'm pretty sure I stayed in Sorrento. We were doing a little side trip to the island of Capri. Don't forget to eat the Gelato...best ice cream ever!!!

  3. Gorgeous!! Welcome to a little of my world--laundry hanging everywhere--even left out in the rain for what we have called "the Portuguese 2nd rinse cycle". :D I've also heard that Italian & Portuguese drivers are some of the most dangerous on the continent--their passion for passing you on a blind curve.............Enjoying some fine wines I bet also!
