From Roma to the Country Side: Orvieto and Torgiano

Well, we left the beautiful city of Roma after an nice evening dinner… had a good nites sleep, but morning came quickly it seemed…. Showered, ate and off we went!
We stopped at a small town called Orvieto… This town, as well as many others in the area that are really old, are built on top of huge rocks that afforded protection…I don’t mean a pile of rocks, but a rock type area up high on the hills/mountain. Up there, we went to a cathedral and toured within it. St Mary Cathedral… well, dang, not really sure of the name at this point… they all begin to blur… but they are all gorgeous, each with their own theme…More Frescos, two by Rafael before the pope called him away. Man… The Papal Ministry was so in charge of so many things in the past centuries. No pics were allowed so you can’t see the beauty. Fresco: They were used to tell the stories of the bible/church cuz in those days, no one could read. Ah Ha… that made much sense to me.
Had a great little lunch at Trattoria LaGrotta…. Pumpkin Lasagna was the best… sounds weird… but man oh man… pumpkin and cheese and pasta…
As you also see, I can get carried away with my little alley pictures….
