Took a train up to Two Harbors... Spent just a small amount of time in the Depot Museum before we left... Dang... wish we knew of this place earlier... one of the top 10 Train Museums in the states... I guess, it just means another trip to Duluth in a few years...
So we boarded the train and off we went... yikes..I left out the pic of Halley and Dan... On our way we say deer hanging out, some running and then later, a buck charging away. The foilage here is different than at home... but just as beautiful.... Their streams, creeks and rivers tend to look rather dirty.... In reality, it's the ore that is all over northern Minnesota and it taints the color of the water. Jeanette, our train commentary specialist...okay I made that title up... was super... had lots of info... made it fun... We met two other couples traveling along on this trip and between all of us, there was lots of hooting and hollaring! And we weren't even drinking... that's the best kind!
Fog was thick as Pea Soup on Lake Superior all day... but, I was able, with a long zoom, to get the lighthouse at Two Harbors. While we were there, a tanker, over 1000 ft long, came into the bay to load up on ore. Was cool watching it slowly come out of the fog.
This was kinda fun... on our way up to Two Harbors, our tour guide took orders for some yummy dessert that we would get on our way back from Two Harbors... Sure enough, our train stopped on the track and the yummies were delivered right to us. So cool to be so small town...
