Shasta, Road Fire, and the Cottage and the Andersens!

Got out earlier today... and hit the highway!  The countryside of Oregon continued to be beautiful, then we got to California... still pretty... but Mt Shasta was low on snow and the Lake Shasta was even lower than it had been... kinda scary what the weather/we are doing to this home we call earth!

Anyway... the attractive pic of Jerry with his compression socks... since his blood clot in January, although it is all cleared up, he's not taking any chances for a future reappearance.. He's so styling!

As we traveled on, Shasta and then the Lake came into view.  yup, a shortage of water!

This was the median fire... course, till we got up close,  we didn't know what it was... It was a relief that it was a car... by the time we got up to it, we literally could not see more than a couple feet in front of the car... plus, the temp out was 100, and the poor fireman... dressed in their gear... gotta really hand it to those guys...

And finally we arrive at our cottage... so darn cute!  The area here in Glen Ellen is beautiful... we are nestled among the oak trees and look out into the hillside.  We traveled along newly planted grapes... all getting ready for future bottles of wine!  In no time, Julie and Jens showed up... and we all settled in.  Went to dinner in town at a fun place ... Glen Ellen Oyster and Martini Bar... No oysters for us, but the Martini Bar was excellent!  Let our excellent adventure begin!  Tomorrow we look forward to a food tour in Sonoma and then 'Babes in Broadway" performance in the park in the evening!

ROAD TRIP!!!!

So, last spring we bought an auction item for a wine country tour... along with a stay at a special cottage in the GlenLyon Vineyard &Winery and being hosted by Squire Fridell and his wife Suzy... He's the owner, winemaker, vineyard manager, etc, etc, etc...  Anyway, we invited Julie and Jens to come join us for a fun weekend.  Tomorrow we will meet up at the cottage!

Left the house later than we wanted this morning... Whenever we get ready to leave, Jerry ends up with all sorts of business he has to take care of... don't get me wrong, that is a GOOD thing, but, sure keeps one from making their own plans.  Finally got going about 10:30am... and it was a good day of traveling.  Jerry is ecstatic!

We have now stopped at Grant Pass, Or and are staying in a spot overlooking the Rogue River.  Very nice view... very warm weather...and a very nice place to rest our heads tonight.  Walked a few blocks for dinner which was delish! I think it was called the Twisted Cork... I had Ginger Glazed Salmon, Jerry had some MahiMahi with Pesto... Highly recommend.  As we were walking, they have bear sculptures in the sidewalks.  Very cute...  Now, all showered and ready for bed... tomorrow will be some more fun..!
Our Digs for the night!

Great Dinner with who knows who in the background!!!

Getting to Know You... that is, Patti's Grand Babies!

Took the 2 1/2 hour trip up to Matt and Sarah's place... A couple of little girls were there that we were anxious to see.  Last time we were there, it was for Liv's Baptism... and Addy... a big girl now!  Matt came home from work for lunch and we had a nice catch-up time and some good Italian food for lunch!
Girls showed off the talents... and Jerry joined them in the bouncy house... A fun time!

Time with Patti and the Little Burg They Call Gale.... Galesburg, IL

Not much to say... Got our bridge picture, went out geocaching, checked out the new Dog Park Patti and Greg were instrumental in making happen, saw lightening bugs, had a nice little lightening storm with rumbling thunder... Ahhh... So good to get together... Took a trip to a rest stop that had the most fabulous viewpoint up high... a short walk through the area... and, of course, there was a geocache in the woods!

Happy 38th Birthday Halley

Took a quick trip out to celebrate Halley's Birthday!  Dinner at Pittsburgh Blue with some of her friends... Nice evening and good steaks!  Her sparkler Red Velvet Cupcake was a hit.
Next day, another restaurant and her birthday presents! Rented a scooter and spent Saturday at the MOA...  She had a great weekend!
