We thought we were going to be 'at sea' all day... but then remembered we had a 4 hour stop at a little town called Conflans Ste Honorine... We ended up getting up a bit later, grabbed a bite to eat around 9:00am... and then spent the morning topside... had to find shade... it was a bit toasty... BUT, the views were stupendous! So like the famous paintings from the famous artists France is notorious for!
The Weeping Willow Trees and the White Swans... prolific in the area... and so beautiful. Since there wasn't much of a breeze, the river was beautiful... reflecting the homes, the trees and clouds. Managed to get some reading done in between taking pictures... I am sad to say, I have way too many pictures from this whole trip... I mean WAY TOO MANY! Digital camera's make that so easy.... click, click, click... and next thing you know you've taken 250 pictures within three hours. I only post a few... and the rest... will that's where my scrapping comes in!
Anyway, back to the trip... once we docked around 1PM... Jerry and I took a walk in this quaint and off the beaten track city. It was not a 'Port City' where the shops cater to the passengers. This little place was the real deal! And, yes, they had geocaches... I posted a couple pics showing where the journey took us...
Turned on the computer, and for some reason, Facebook will not load the page... dang... but, I'm hoping I found a way around using my phone to post the blog. We shall see how that works out.
Had a great dinner tonight with new friends, Elizabeth and Carol, her mom. Elizabeth is the active military... currently an officer in the National Guard. She is a hoot, as is her mom and we enjoy them both. Drink way too much wine and have way too many sweets... but, hey... you're not in France that often.
Tomorrow we hope to venture through Paris on the Subway. Everyone says, it is easy to follow... routes are well marked... I sure hope so! Otherwise, I get a bit cranky! Gonna go to the Sacred Heat Basillica of Montmartre, where the say the views are more spectacular than those from the Eiffel Tower! Weather isn't spose to be so great, but, no matter, it will be a fun time and I will take pics... no matter sun, rain, or clouds!
We're thinking about about putting an offer on this summer place... would be nice I think...
Or wait, maybe one of these....?
Or, one of these colorful beehives... Yup, this person gather's bee honey... and has decorated their little hives... let's all hear an "ahhhhhh"
Love the Weeping Willows... perfect spot!
Entering one of the many locks we traversed!
Darn Willows calling me to take a picture!
Lots of live-aboards in Conflans... using old barges...
And this is us, taking a path less traveled to find a geocache!
Aha... it's somewhere around here!
This town had more spiders than I care to even remember... awful, awful, awful... I felt my sking crawl just being around them!
What beautiful, peaceful looking views. Always love your geocaching photos--great way to explore like a kid again! Enjoy your last days....
