Our fancy smancy dinner.... and a fond farewell

AAA treated us to a special dinner that evening in the Pinnicle Grill. So yummy, and yes, more wine. A different one with each course, and each one quite yummy. We dressed to the nines since this was going to be our official 'Birthday Dinner.' We thought we were all done, when the staff brought SIX birthday cakes-one for each of us. Yup, just what we needed. We each felt obliged to take a bit of them, but, man we were so full. Doggie bags to go for them.
Had a super nights sleep and alas, the journey was to end. Woke up the next morning (slept totally through the storm that passed through that evening, mainly cuz the dang banging door was finally fixed) and we were docked in Seattle.
I hope the pics make sense... We took soooooo many, hard to choose! So as I close, HAPPY BIRTHDAY DIVA'S.... What a fun memory!

Bad Nights Sleep but still a fun Sunday Wine Tour

Saturday night found our boat being pushed around a bit by a storm that was pounding the northwest. Sure the boat rocked a bit, but wasn't really bad... HOWEVER, the door between our 'deck patio' and the one next to us had been unlocked. As the boat would rock, that door would bang, bang, bang back and forth. It took a special key to lock it shut, we, on our side, could not prop it up to stay in one position, so, that pretty much kepts us up a couple hours.... grrrrr... BUT, nothing keeps the Diva's down for long.
Jean, Cyn, Julie and Liz signed up for a wine tour in Port Alberni. We had to tender in... a little boat that takes you to shore. Quite drizzly when we were on our way... Christy and Debby had come along to explore the town, but decided, they wanted no part of the rain, so they tendered back! Fortuantely, the weather cleared in about 40 minutes for those of us that remained.
We caught our train to the winery; and immediately, received a wine glass on the train and it was filled with wine. Fortunately, Liz had the brains to remind us, this glass, which they filled to max with some yummy wine, was only the first and we may want to pace ourselves... Good idea.
The steam train was fun, conductors hillarious, the views stupendous and the winery and the scrumptious feast they provided were wonderful memories. We donned our cat eye glasses which the crowd loved.... we were being photographed by quite a few of the folks there. Stars in our own minds, heehee!

This picture is funny.... in the elevator, they had carpets that told you what day of the week it was.... Her we are, getting ready to go out for the tenders to the Port Alberni

from Port Alberni, our boat

Look at these babes with the boat in the background

Aren't we cuties....

Egads, don't know why this one is so dark.... but we were the bees knees !

Can we say a conductor with a super sense of humor......

Views out of the train

Cyn is educating us on what the particular wine we are sample is... Julie is obviously, really interested....

We walked right through the winery back to the train....

ChooChoo... our train is coming down the track to take us home!

Oh no, one more sample of wine on the way back....

Can we say tender...?  This is the little boat we used to get back and forth....

Good bye Port Alberni

Victoria... A foggy morning and sick little lady!

When the Diva’s are out and aboot… time gets all messed up. Saturday found yours truly having too much of an affair with the cammode…. Egads… Barely leave, and I have the worse case of travelers lament…. No, no fun… ended up missing going into Victoria with all the girls. They had a drink while there and toasted me… NOT FAIR!
Felt a bit better by the late afternoon…. Cyn, Julie, Debbie came back early from their explore, and I joined them for a sandwich on the lido deck… a very bland sandwich to say the least for me!.... Anyway, the rest of the gang showed up later and by now, I was feeling more in the mood for socializing and going out. Had a wonderful dinner… meatloaf… who’d a thought comfort food at a fancy restaurant… PERFECT I said.
Spent the evening on our deck… Laughing, talking, Julie doing her Zumba moves, and just having an all around good time.
Pics are of the girls when they went to Victoria….

Diva's Cruising....

WOW…. We’re on the Wines of Washington Cruise…. And what weather we have had! It was fabulous as we left Seattle… So Blue, So comfortable… almost too warm on the deck until the boat was in motion. But, these Diva’s are already hot ladies, so a little more heat… no big deal!
Julie A came by my house where Cyn and I were waiting. Off we went to meet our ship: the MS Amsterdam, Holland America Cruise Line for a three night cruise visiting Victoria and Port Alberni, BC. We were going to met Liz T, Christy T and Debby R, our fellow diva’s also celebrating their big 60 this year. Course, I’m the youngest and don’t turn till the end of the year…. Have to remind them of that…!
So, the three of us started the afternoon with wine on our deck and then some exploring on the ship, which led us to the Crows Nest…. Awesome Bar with the most awesome view….then more exploring, Found our shipmates on the Lido Deck near the pool chillaxing. Then, time for the Emergency Drill…. And, wouldn’t you know our side (port) had the western exposure…. So, as we all were checked in and explained the procuedures, we cooked. As soon as that was over, we head back to our rooms to cool down and watch as the ship left port. So gorgeous… you can tell by the pics.
We were invited to a Wine and Cheese Reception up at the Crows Nest, so we checked that out. Got to see a gorgeous Sunset…..
Okay… well, dinner was yummy, but a bit late… we missed our assigned time cuz of the reception, so we had to wait for an open seating spot to open up…ended up eating about 8:30….
Woke up this morning to a foggy Victoria…. But it’s all suppose to lift and be a comfy 68-70 degrees. Everyone is going out exploring…This morning, Cyn, Jules and I were on the lower deck by 6:45 walking…. Nice, comfy and felt good to get the blood pumping. I’ll check in again later…
