A fun little Car Trip !

Spent the day Saturday mostly in the car. Early in the day, Halley had a mani/pedi, while Dan waited in the spa for her to finish. Meantime, Jerry and I got snookered into going to a Westin Resort presentation. Ahhhhhh, nice place available if you want to spend $69000 and then $2600 a year maintenance. BUT, you can trade you unit time for up to 28 days to stay at Westin Family hotels. Would be nice, but not in our future.

When Halley finished her treatment, we all had a late lunch and then we took H and D to see the Maui Tropical Plantation…. Kinda touristi… but, they liked it. We also got a bridge picture there…. Not the best, but better than nothing. (Liz, we have a bridge picture from the Grand Wailai further down on the blog…) Anyway, when that was done, we took the north road back…. Most people go on the Hana Hwy…. not us, we went on the unimproved, one lane, steep cliffs road…. Was really fun… nerve racking…. Dan loved it, Halley wasn’t so crazy about it. Even stopped at a lady’s home where she bakes and sells Banana Nut Bread…. It’s well know to the locals. Got there, down a steep driveway only to find the folks that were there before us just bought the last one! Settled for some coconut cream pie and wood chips (baked thick shavings of raw coconut)…. Yummy! By the tine the day ended, we weren’t really very hungary, so we all went to our rooms… Halley and Dan, though, made a run for a meal about 7:30 in the hotel. They are always welcomed by the waithelp.... you know, I'm sitting here thinking, I wonder if they are tipping????

Taking off on the little train....

Coconut demonstration.... If the liquid doesn't come out clear that's in the middle, DON'T DRINK IT, or you might be spending some time in the bathroom....

Each coconut has this little face on it...Legend has it its a monkey .... the mouth part is the place you can pierce to get the coconut milk.... The eyes, you can't pierce.... we saw her try...

Taking the road less taken, see what we ran into!  and the views, well, they were extreme... photos do not do them justice

  1. Always love those roads less traveled for some of the best adventures! Like Rick Steves says "keep on traveling...."
